Job scam quick guide: it's a scam if...

  • they want you to collect and forward money in any way (a "money mule" job). You'll wind up engaged in money laundering, personally defrauded via expertly forged cheques, money orders, etc, or defrauding someone else who pays for goods that never arrive.
  • they want you to receive packages and reship them somewhere else. The goods will have been obtained fraudulently, and they're just using you to make the shipping address appear local. You will be aiding fraud.
  • they want up-front payment (either to them or someone else) of any sort for anything before you can get the job. This is advance fee fraud: there is no job -- it's just a big con to extract money from you.
  • they want you to buy any kind of "membership" or "kit" in order to start. Forget it -- it's not a real job at all: they're trying to sell you something, and they're probably making a bunch of other false claims about it if they're pitching it as a "job".
  • it's a job offer, and it's spam. There are LOTS of these scams about, as you can see.

AntiqueWay S.A.

This is a blatant money mule job, with text encoded in an image to dodge spam filters. Note that condition #9 in the "application form" is "are you ready to accept money transfers to your bank account?" Three positions are offered: "customer support manager", "bidding manager", and "transport manager". The positions are essentially irrelevant, since the overall requirement is that you be willing to accept money transfers. The name "Winfred Blenner" is used in the signature, and the entire image is a "mailto" hyperlink to "Steve.antiqueway@yahoo.fr" with subject "Application Form". Based on past experience, the scammer probably has a neat little collection of "X.antiqueway@yahoo.fr" addresses, where X is substituted for a bunch of random names. This particular spam is targeted at the USA.

ArtSolution S.A. is another. I responded to see if I could get more info to exploit them. This is the answer I got. Scary!!

ps. I did not give any info.

Hi!

Here is some information regarding your responsibilities and what exactly you will have to do.
Initially your wages will be 7% from each transfer (depends of the amount received).
Normally you will be receiving about 2-3 transfers every week. The transfers are domestic wire transfers from our clients in your country. They are paying for our services - we are not selling any goods but providing services such as domestic and international market research, implementing business strategies, forwarding funds to the internet auctions sellers, etc.
For client who is not able to send international wire transfers or checks and wait for upto 2 weeks to complete the transfer, we introduce this service, so they can send domestic wire transfers because they are much faster. Basically we can complete each transaction in 1-2 business days.

That's why we need your help here. You will receive those payments on your bank account, withdraw funds and send to our partners using Western Union money transfer system excluding WU charges and travel expenses.
This is part-time position and it will not directly affect your pension.
For IRS we specially issue report forms each second week of the month and mail them to your postal address.

The receivers are agents of our partners in many countries in the world depends from where is our client. List of countries we currently work with: Croatia, Poland, Chezh Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Latvia, Litva, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, China, Philipinnes, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Israel, Egypt, etc. Our partners receive payments and pass funds to the seller.
We with your help receive funds from the buyers. The main focus of such organization is faster and more reliable transactions between seller and buyer.
Especially if one of the side is company and another is private person.
